Come join the Strawbale Studio Family for a day of connection to nature through the art of Maple tapping. Enjoy the flow & the sweetness of life …
as we demonstrate tapping the trees, identification of maples suitable for tapping, nature walk through the woods, gathering sap from the trees we have tapped . . . and hang out with the wood-fired evaporation process. The history, lore & science behind maple syrup will be shared, as well as lunch provided.
$25 per person includes a wonderful Mexican meatball soup, beans and rice for our vegetarian friends, with homemade fresh tortillas, and a day of learning how to tap maple trees.
Instructors are Shane Norris Levi Fiak, joined by Deanne Bednar.
Attire and what to bring:
Wear warm clothes and hiking shoes. Also, be prepared for the possibility of a shift in weather. We are in Michigan after all!
Bring a craft to enjoy while we sit by the fire and join in this age old process of boiling down the sap into Maple Syrup!
This class will be located on the Strawbale Studio land, on 50 acres of wooded land outside Oxford, MI.
