ROUND POLE Framing ~ The Basics, Hands-on!   Enjoy the satisfaction of working, hands-on, with round pole wood harvested from the woods.

January 20 & 21, 2024  9:30a – 5p both days. Learn hands-on basics and principles of construction of round pole framing for small structure ! Tour thatched roofs & round pole structures on site, harvest wood, use hand tools ~ create a small team project using several types of notching and a mallot to take home (optional). Bring a bag lunch. Includes e-handouts.  Instructor: Deanne Bednar has designed and co-built small round-wood structures on site using both notching & lashing techniques.

You will learn to safely use a draw shave, chisel, hatchet…. to create notches that join wood poles. All materials supplied. Bring your (labeled) tools if you have them. “Read a log” to create “reference lines”.

$95 Early Bird price for both days, if prepaid 2 wks in advance, or $120 thereafter, with RSVP, if there is room.
Bring-a-Friend Discount $20 off, each.  Some 1/2 Pay Scholarships available.  Bring a bag lunch.
