EARTH PLASTER & Sculpting Workshop

J mcd wrkshp. deanne plastering maybe 1-2013Get hands-on experience in a variety of applications that you can use in your existing dwellings or future natural building home during this weekend class.  Come each day, or stay overnight if you wish.

Using natural and local soil, we will do earth plaster and sculpting in an conventional home.  Make your existing home more natural, or apply these skills to a future natural building or earth oven you construct.  

 $120 Fee …. or Early Bird Special $95  if prepaid by December 31.  Limited to 12 students.  Register now ! Call to see if there is room before sending money.  Bring a bag lunch for both days.  Overnight accommodations available. Share food and prep.

Some wortrade scholarships available. Taught by Deanne Bednar, art teacher, illustrator of the Hand-Sculpted House and the Natural Plaster Book.  Don’t miss this class lead by a very experienced teacher!   

 

100_1602Learn the basics of locating, mixing & applying earth to retrofit/beautify your existing home.

Hands-on: Make Starch Paste, Adhesion coat, Earth Plaster ~ base and finish coats, Earth Sculpting Mix (Cob) and armatures for attachment to wall. Apply earth plaster to a wall, try your hand at some cob sculpture, and help apply a penetrating / hardening oil to create a waterproof finish.  The class  includes handouts  and a small sculpting sample that you make,  to take home. And you will see lots of inspiring examples of things you can do in your places.

We will tour the main house, the Strawbale Studio and see the Sculpted Rocket Stove Mass Heater for inspiration.
