January 14 & 15, 2017 THATCHING – An Introduction.
Saturday. Arrive 9:30a. Class 10a – 5p.
Sunday Arrive 9:30a. Class 10a – 4p. Taught by Deanne Bednar
Learn about the basics of thatching a roof. Explore this beautiful, ecological & long-lasting roof system. Tour several thatched roof buildings, see a demo of thatching and try your hand at it, harvest & bundle/store reed. 12 student limit. A unique weekend. One of the few classes offered in North America on Thatching !
Group discounts. $95 1 week in advance or $110 thereafter. Some scholarships. Registration
WHAT TO BRING
Bring a BAG LUNCH for each day and extra food if you’re staying overnight. Anything will do.
Optional: Bring a water bottle and perhaps a thermos for a warm drink. Camera, notebook, print our the Thatching Google doc to bring with you if you wish.
Dress WARMLY : loose boots, wool or insulated sox if you have them, ski pants or a few layers of sweat pants (jeans are COLD). Hats, some work gloves. We will be both indoors & outdoors.
If staying overnight, bring bedding if you can.. There are some beds and cots, and the floor. Bring a mattress if you can. If you can’t – we will work it out ! Bring some extra food to share for supper and Sunday if you can. We can cook together.
