HOW THE GREAT LAKES WERE FORMED https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wztD2yxuyh

Participants: , Pat, Deanne… joined for a bit by Jack & girlfriend and sister.

In our opening conversation we shared our living situation when we were grosing up. Jo played piano and organ at the Methodist Church (DB at the Presbyterian Church, piano & organ for youth Sunday School, active in youth fellowships. Jo: was a pacifist, and my church was supportive of military and I ended up as a Quaker. Pat: went to public school, then Catholic, was a nun, and interested in the IHM sisters assembly in October with New leadership. In the process, there has been-Listening sessions and connected with other communities in PA, and with Afro-American communities. Deanne also relates to the IHM sisters and their monthly magazine with inspiring topics and reflections

Mission Scouting was important for Pat. These Girl Scout gatherings included girls from many types of churches. . When I left the convent I was part of religious leaders interested in youth education. I have been active in St. Peters Church, supportive of young families, and a vibrant community. (Deanne I had a discussion with Greg the viking guy about NVC and religion. Pat: I connected with a Jesuit Priest who was also a Zen master. Deanne: Religion meets needs, to create safety and hold together a culture with guidelines. And even “othering” can be seen as an attempt for “safety and comfort”.

Jo: The creative spirit of the universe, is the same entity. religions can hold us and our trajedies. Pat. I just went back to the family farmland in Manchester. My cousin and husband lived in property next to it. The farm was deconstructed and brought to Detroit for salvaging, and it was designated as a NATURE PRESERVE. My cousin told me histories, about how an early family member re-routed the creeks so land would drain. The creek was Headwaters for Raisin River! That relationship lead me to IHM sisters and the Raisin River Institute. I’m grateful I got to re-experience the loving care of my cousin and nature preserve on the property during the family reunion. A cousin, Afro-American, was adopted, and raised on that property. As kids we cupped our hands to drink from the creek. and bury potatoes under the coals and ate baked potatoes and fish. One of the trees with a hanging limbs, was over on its side and surrounded with a wall of rocks. .We all had good strong roots in our nature-ness.

Pat suggests that the Strawbale Studio Vimeo is a dream that we have in common..Watching it can help us connect to inspiring parts of our own lives. Pat recalls: My dream had yellow flowers out the back door. In my previous Dream Group…we would say “if it were my dream…”and then share our take on someone else’s dream. (DB: Shannon shared her strong images dream about people and animals in nature, with me yesterday on the Rocket Stove mass bench cool from the night temperatures.. Greg added his viewpoints on her dream, and I shared “gestalt-sing” the dream – speaking in present time from the dream image to explore what our sub-conscious might have been trying to express.)e Jo reflects” I haven’t been aware of dreaming in quite a while. “.

Jo: Being here on this land I feel so complete and balanced most of the time. I se different types of balance….shaky. or peaceful, with hands over my heart. My helper…who was staying here, had lots of issues, and the situation was deteriorating. The non-violence connector group was a tremendous support for me on this, and she moved out a week ago Thursday. I contacted Adult protective services. to alert them. Grateful for Alternatives to Violence and Reevaluation Counseling, to help me with patience and skills to help her.

Deanne reflects on a situation in life, regarding safety and comfort…Reflections: “I meet my need for safety in different ways. I could suggest “taking a break” around this situation. And I can counsel about fear and safety in my life. Take a look at that. As best I can, I live my life without fear and with much safety. Gratitude. And I provide that kind of setting for others here on the land.

What’s alive in you? What’s inspiring you?

Pat: Yesterday, enjoying working in the garden and process the harvest. I am tender with myself and my bloodwork is doing well. I don’t now how long I’ll be able to do this. I’m delighted to be taking care of a bright 2 1/2 year old granddaughter that sparkles. Morgan was dancing with rhythm instruments! That brings me to Life.

Jack, comes in the zoom for about 10 minutes: He is going out dancing tonight, dancing with girlfriend and sister. Jack: I’m taking a high school job…shorter hours and less travel than elementary French class teaching. In many ways Ill miss it. AND I’m looking forward to having more time on me instead of driving. . I need to retake French test, missed by one point. Playing a lot of guitar and playing games with family and kareokee machine for my mom ( and me.

JO. My days are full, with baby chicks in the loft above my bedroom, and my dog Wilda. I’m helping with Unity park and Unity Hall, coming out of the renovation of the vacant Unitarian church.

Deanne. This last month Raphael was an intern,w, with an easy flow of values, and eating and communication styles…a collaborative fit. Inspiring to see collections of people coming together on the regional projects we went to… helping and learning.
I am moved by the magnificent beauty of nature !  And have been learning about the formation of the Great Lakes on-line.  The seas, then the glaciers and the many movements of water and land!

Pat: I watched a Jude Currivan interview about The Cosmic Hologram. We are gathered here for the moon. . The moon as mothering the earth. The role the earth played in the gravitational pull of the moon! The moon is mothering the earth I find that very inspiring. I have taken an ancestral healing course on line. We can still be nourished by our ancestors and we can nourish them by how we are living…in other realms.
I love my garden…with the bakchoy plants….wilted and they came back and there they are !!

It was a rich, connected evening of sharing, especially commonalities we were not yet aware of.
