It was a delight to tour with folks I had never met, and enjoy being together so much! Alyssa was a wonderful presence, and asked the question “I’m curious what you would have done differently” ! Chris & Avani came with their de-light-ful baby Freya. They shared this supportive reflection on their Instagram:
“Our love for alternative living/building is every evolving so for our 2 year anniversary we booked a straw bale learning tour! Our guide, builder + artist Deanne was so knowledgeable and super inspiring! We are excited to explore more with earth structures!” |
I so enjoyed the process of sharing and interacting during the morning! I hope we can plan some things in the future.
In the afternoon there was a Plant Walk, followed by 2 crafting projects using materials we harvested from the land today. We braided Sweetgrass while listening to a reading about the meaning and uses of Sweetgrass to different 1st nation tribes. Then we harvested Day Lilly leaves and each made a soft & strong bracelet,,using the traditional skill of ‘cording’ ~ the twisting of fibers. Selena care-fully dug up several plants to take back to her place to grow: Sweet grass & Echinacea. We had a lovely time exploring and meeting plants & mushroom at Strawbale Studio land..
Sounds like a most perfectly harmonious lovingly sharing kind of day!
We can’t wait to visit… learn, explore & experience!
