Gratitude for the JOY of LEARNING & CO-CREATING this year at Strawbale Studio ~ while responding to COVID!
The year started with a “pre-Covid” WINTERNSHIPJan 6 – Feb 6! It was a fabulous time, with Intern living on-site for a month, learning and re-skilling, while helping to host 4 weekend workshops for the public on Thatching, Round Pole Framing, Rocket Stove & Earth Oven, Earth Plastering! As I look at the photos from that time I can feel a type of vigor and connection I love.
Our last “in person” Full Moon Potluck Gathering was March 5, 2020. Then the Big Regrouping! The Gifts of Covid: Needs met for restoration, organization, slowing down for reflection and observation. Challenges of Covid: Needs not met for flow, ease, familiarity, sharing, income. Ah. Shifting, turning, reflection.
By slowing down I experienced more connection with Nature than ever before in my life, with a fullness of gratitude and awe ! Connection with the peeps continued as we reached out to communicate and support each other, finding ways, as we could, including outdoor visits with masks. The Zoom Moon and other Zoom gatherings were able to include folks who ordinarily couldn’t come to events:. Some ZOOM CLASSES took shape: The Global Ecovillage Design Series with some Upland School Youth and teacher Michael Mallon, a Foraging Class c0-taught with Kelly Thiede, a Worm Composting Class for Lyon Library! Gradually there has been on-site inclusion of some Interns, guests & tours, always with Covid kindnesses. Ah. Shifting, turning, reflection.
Gratitude to the many DONORSwho contributed TIME, SKILLS, & FUNDING to the Strawbale Studio in 2020 & years past.!
