2017 RESKILLING PROJECTS
Cording from local dog bane, making Sumac Ade (Indigenous Lemonade), Lashing, Class on Types of Composting including Worm Composting. Composting techniques used throughout August with our waste products. solar Oven cooking, Use of Rocket Stove for cooking. Eating outside together, and suppers in the Strawbale Studio, Growing Shiitake Mushrooms on inoculated logs. Hay Box cooking (insulative cooking. Harvesting eggs from the LeFevre Farm. Making Farmers’ Cheese from local goats milk. Local Experts bring their skills: Spoon Carving Classes with Micah L., Making window bucks and using power tools with Gene V. Harvesting poles, learning lashing & making a Log Ladder. Lashing & Constructing a Round Pole A Frame for Thatching. Basic Thatching design and application techniques. Firing up and using a Rocket Stove Mass Heater, Rocket Stove Cooker, Rumford Fireplace and Earth Oven. Teaching each other music. Ice cream and chocolate cake. Foraging and green omelets from the land with lambs quarters, ox eye daisy, oregano, dandelion, comfrey, garlic, chives and more. Food: harvest grape leaves and make Dolmas, Skills: lashing, stacking blocks for foundations, harvesting trees, using a drawshave, worm composting – use & process. Starch Paste, Adhesion Coat, Earth Plasters, Finish Plaster, Cob, Fire & Rocket Stove Dynamics, Stone Laying strategies. Notching tools & techniques. Draw Knife & Shaving Horse use. Harvesting & Debarking logs . Using a hatchet, Ax and Splitting Mallot.

LOCAL CONNECTIONS Interns visit East River Farm, getting eggs and meeting the animals, Harvest the CSA food at 3 Roods Farm 5 times, Attend the Ghandi Peace Day at Three Roods Farm, and several Compassionate Communications gatherings. YOGA weekly at Hamsa Yoga with Alan Harras Attend the Flint Water Crisis Concert with Gaia Singers.
BUILDING PROJECTS
New Boat Launch is built at the swamp by the May “A-Team + Madi” Initiated by Andy Bologovsky and built by the May Interns ~ includes a Lime plastered Bench, Fire Pit & Boat Slip and stone bench. Awesome addition to the land.
The Flying Toad (aka Identity Cabin) This new structure includes curvy logs & benches, new strawbale walls, earth plasters & bottle window and living roof The porch addition was constructed by the July 9-Day Natural Building Essentials Course Interns built the walls, plasters, benches & details including a lashed ladder to the green roof!
